New data added to FOIAengine

FOIAengine now includes data from 41 agencies, and in March we added nearly 13,000 records, more than double the number of requests that we added in January and February. Over the past 30 days, we added data from:

  14. Food and Drug Administration
  15. National Aeronautics and Space Administration
  16. National Labor Relations Board
  17. Securities and Exchange Commission
  18. United States Postal Service

Coming soon: Custom alerts

In the coming weeks, we will roll out a major product enhancement: custom alerts. Subscribers will be able to save searches and then get an email notification whenever new data that fits those searches is added to the FOIAengine database. While users will be able to continue searching on the platform at any time, alerts will ensure you never miss an important FOIA development.

Data experts John Jenkins and Randy Miller, who created FOIAengine, regularly dive deep into the data to break news and identify trends. Their recent work includes:

    • As President Trump moves quickly to implement his ambitious agenda, media organizations and non-profits are accelerating and sharpening their use of Freedom of Information Act requests in an attempt to find out more. FOIA requests from both industries have become increasingly specific and more expansive in terms of the records sought. Read more.
    • Administrative law judges have come under fire by the Trump administration, but there’s further evidence of attacks on ALJs based on our analysis of FOIA requests. Read more.
    • The Securities and Exchange Commission has been busy dropping investigations of crypto industry players, including one involving Gemini, the business launched by the Winklevoss twins. But there’s still another SEC case against Gemini ongoing, and there’s much we can learn about it by diving into FOIA requests. Read more.
