FOIAengine, NCISS partner to improve investigative services

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, OCT. 23, 2024 — PoliScio Analytics, the premier political intelligence firm specializing in Freedom of Information Act data, has partnered with the National Council of Investigation & Security Services (NCISS) to improve investigators’ access to critical FOIA information.

NCISS is the national professional association advocating for private investigators and security professionals in our nation’s capital. It is dedicated to maintaining a cornerstone of American jurisprudence: access to government records. While individuals and organizations may request information from the federal government through FOIA requests, few agencies publish any record of those requests — limiting access to government information.

PoliScio fills that gap through its groundbreaking FOIAengine platform.

Every year, the federal government receives over one million requests seeking the release of specific governmental documents related to almost every function of government. FOIAengine’s proprietary algorithms and processes capture and organize, for the first time, this vast trove of FOIA information in a searchable database.

Those FOIA requests are a critical tool in investigative work, unearthing information about individuals, organizations and government offices that is not available anywhere else. The requests are predictive, providing signals of upcoming litigation, transactions, stock and market movements, news stories, short-seller initiatives, and other legal and corporate developments.

“We created FOIAengine to fill an essential need after the federal government shut down its website that made this information available,” said PoliScio co-founder John A. Jenkins.  “We’re proud to be partnering with NCISS to support its critical mission.”

“If you have access to databases, driving records and other similar sources, it is because of the past work of NCISS professionals testifying in Washington D.C. and before congressional committees,” said NCISS Past President Tina Thomas. “Professional private investigators and security professionals have been protecting our industry and the public for almost 50 years! NCISS is proud to have FOIAengine join as a new partner. Members of NCISS will receive certain discounts for joining FOIAengine, details are in the Members only section on the NCISS webpage at https://nciss.org/.”

NCISS members are eligible to sign up for discounted subscriptions to FOIAengine and access to PoliScio leaders, who are experts in FOIA research and government information. FOIAengine  contains more than 250,000 FOIA record requests from 2021 to the present, from 30 federal agencies. More records are added every month.

About NCISS

The prescient founders of NCISS saw the need for security and investigation businesses to keep Congress and the Administration informed of their interests. They saw that without representation, our government would at the minimum overlook us, or legislate against us without consideration of the consequences.

The labor-intensive nature of security operations put NCISS member’s interests squarely under the purview of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).  And even more so today.  It is the Council’s job to keep our legislators aware of the interests of the hundreds of thousands of professional security officers and the businesses which employ them.
